Apple sour cream coffee cake recipe with vanilla, walnuts, brown sugar and cinnamon. This pairs with any of the below coffee cake recipes. Coffee cake is great for any dessert or breakfast.
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 cups apples (peeled, diced)
- 1/2 cup walnuts (chopped)
- 1/2 cup sugar (brown, packed)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (ground)
Heat the oven to 350 F.
Cream together shortening, sugar, vanilla, and salt. Add eggs and beat well.
In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, and soda; add to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream. Fold in diced apples.
Pour batter into a greased 9-by-13-by-2-inch baking pan. Sprinkle top evenly with chopped walnuts. Combine brown sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over the chopped walnuts.
Bake apple sour cream coffee cake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
