Baked beans, they don't have to be just a side dish anymore. You can add baked beans to your sloppy joes to help stretch the meat. The beans also add wonderful roasted flavor and texture to these popular hot sandwiches.

  • 1 medium onion, chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 (16-ounce) can baked beans, undrained

  • 2 tablespoons mustard

  • 1/4 cup ketchup

  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce

  • 6 slices American cheese

  • 6 hamburger buns, sliced
