You could just buy syrup for your pancakes or you could make your own. If only takes a few minutes, and the results are well worth it.
- 1/3 cup water
- 1 cup fruit
- 3/4 cup sugar
- Gather the ingredients.
- In a medium pot, add the water and the sugar. Use a wire whip to combine the sugar and the water until you can no longer see the sugar. Add the fruit to the pot. Bring the pot to a boil. Allow to simmer until the mixture thickens. With a potato masher or the back of a spoon, smash the fruit near the end of cooking. Cook for a 2 more minutes. Remove the pot from the heat.
- If thin syrup is desired, put the mixture through a strainer. If thick syrup is preferred, leave the fruit as is or process the syrup in a food processor, Discard the fruit pulp.
- This syrup can be served room temperature or warm from the stove top. Store any leftover syrup in the refrigerator.
