This basic Waldorf salad is a classic combination of apples, celery, mayonnaise, and walnuts. Serve the salad on crisp mixed salad greens or lettuce. Add some raisins or dried cranberries to the salad if you like.
The basic Waldorf salad dates back to the late 1800s. Walnuts were added in 1928, along with grapes. This version does not include grapes, but feel free to add about 1 cup of halved seedless grapes for an updated Waldorf salad.
