Peet’s
Having been in business since the 1960s, Peet’s Coffee & Tea now offers a coffee subscription so that you can enjoy coffee beans shipped to you within 24 hours of being roasted.
Peet’s is known for its commitment to sustainable sourcing through its Direct Trade program and selection of certified organic, fair trade, and Rainforest Alliance coffees. If you are already familiar with Peet’s coffee and know what you like, you can opt to use its Frequent Brewer subscription program to set up a regular order for your favorites.
And, if you are new to Peet’s and want some guidance on which of its coffees are right for you, there's a short quiz you can take on your flavor preferences and coffee habits to “find your match.” Then, you can add it to your subscription.
Feeling more adventurous? Peet's Curated Program offers three different options: the Small Batch Series (about $21 per month), Single Origin Series (around $19 per month), or the Signature Blend Series (approximately $18 per month). The Signature Blend program will feature a different coffee that Peet’s is featuring in each series for any given month.
Peet’s does offer free standard shipping with subscription orders in the U.S. No matter which subscription you select, the company allows you to choose how much coffee you want, how often you want it, and which grind is right for you, leaving plenty of options for customization.

Most Eco-Friendly : Driftaway Coffee
:max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/Driftaway_Coffee-68f46878ef8444b09281cfa9ce9c1707.jpg)
Driftaway Coffee
Known for being coffee with a conscience, Driftaway Coffee strives to deliver complete transparency about where and how its beans are grown and sourced and what price the brand paid for each single-origin coffee it sells.
Based in Brooklyn, NY, whole beans are roasted on-site twice a week. Driftaway does not offer a tremendous variety compared to some other brands (five choices are currently listed, plus a separate line of cold brew bags).
However, Driftaway includes more detail than you could imagine about the beans in each bag, including when and how the beans were harvested, roasted, packaged, and delivered. Plus, Driftaway offers information on the region the coffee was grown in, flavor notes of the beans, and brewing tips.
As a way of giving back, for every pound of coffee roasted at Driftaway, five cents is donated to the World Coffee Research (WCR). Coffee is packaged in 100% compostable packaging, made from sugarcane waste and plant fiber that also blocks out natural elements such as moisture and oxygen to maintain the coffee’s freshness.
And, if you are wondering how sustainable it is to be shipping beans from across the world, Driftaway has an answer for that too with detailed information on what the carbon footprint is of their entire operation and how they work to offset it.
When you sign up for a subscription, Driftaway will send you a tasting kit of four small bags of coffee. You taste and share your favorites, and then the company matches future orders to your taste. You get to choose between 8 and 12 oz of coffee per order, delivered in weekly, bi-monthly, or four-week shipments. You can also select recurring billing plans to save money on your orders.

Best for the Tech Savvy : MistoBox
:max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/Misto_box-22fdc15e03d749ceb0d76ec9979765d8.jpg)
MistoBox
With close to 600 coffees from 60 of the country’s best roasters, MistoBox offers a tremendous variety for you to choose from when you sign up for a plan.
With MistoBox, you can choose from single-origin coffees, blends, light roasts, dark roasts, beans for cold brew, certified organic coffees, and almost 70 varieties of decaf. To help you filter through the hundreds of coffees, MistoBox offers two tiers of coffee selections, Basic or Deluxe.
Basic is around $10 per 12 oz bag and consists mainly of blends and darker-to-medium roasted coffees. Deluxe is about $13 per 12 oz bag and consists mainly of single-origin coffees, espresso, and medium roasts. For additional cost savings, you can opt into a payment plan and commit to six or 12 bags, instead of paying for one at a time.
Delivery schedules are customized based on how much coffee you drink per week. If you're an avid coffee drinker, you may want to choose a weekly delivery, but if you only drink five or six cups per week, you might opt for monthly delivery.
Thanks to MistoBox's innovative Brew Queue web feature, you can add specific varieties to your queue for future deliveries, or opt to be surprised with every order and let MistoBox do all the curating for you. And, if you have Amazon Echo, you can manage your subscription with Alexa, requesting updates, changes in your delivery schedule, or reordering specific roasts.

:max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/Java_Presse-8a53a33218b343f29528a7014789e9e4.jpg)
Java Presse
If you only drink organic brews, Java Presse offers rare, small-batch, Fair and Direct Trade beans from around the world. The company's selection is small, with only four varieties listed at a time, but well-curated.
Each bean is professionally-rated as “Specialty-Grade,” the highest grade possible. Because they are organic, the coffee is completely free of pesticides, additives, and preservatives. And, because of the Java Presse's careful sourcing, they are also sustainably grown.
To top it off, beans are shipped to you within two hours of roasting, so they are the freshest out of any other subscription we reviewed. The company even claims to have special roasting techniques designed to optimize the coffee’s antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits.
The Java Presse subscription plan defaults to a monthly delivery of one bag every 30 days, however, this can be customized upon request. You can choose from light, medium, or dark roast blends available year-round. Or, you can opt for the Brewer’s Choice subscription, which features small-batch coffee from a different country each month.

Best Pour-Over : Copper Cow Coffee
:max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/Copper_Cow_Coffee-202eb06a56d14553b128eb5bc1cb0e77.jpg)
Copper Cow Coffee
If you haven’t heard of Vietnamese coffee, it is used to either describe coffee made from beans grown in Vietnam, or it describes a specific style of java that is served with sweetened, condensed milk.
Copper Cow Coffee offers a subscription service specifically for Vietnamese style pour-over coffee. The company's coffee is a blend of 70% Robusta and 30% Arabica beans—what they claim is the “concise ratio of a strong, yet silky brew.”
Copper Cow Coffee sources its beans from farms in Vietnam that use only organic, agricultural, processing methods without chemicals or pesticides. And, the company pledges to pay farmers a fair wage as a part of its commitment to sustainability.
On top of careful sourcing for their coffee, all milk in the company's coffee creamers are sourced from local farms in California. Coffee subscriptions include a beautifully packaged box of 22 individual pour-over coffee packets and 22 creamers delivered on a monthly schedule.
What is most unique to Copper Cow compared to other subscription services is the variety of flavors offered, including the Salted Caramel Latte, Churro Latte, Ginger Latte, and Lavender Latte, among others.
What Is a Coffee Subscription?
A coffee subscription is a recurring subscription to have coffee delivered to the home at regular intervals.
Is There a Minimum Order Amount for a Coffee Subscription?
Most companies ship one bag of coffee per scheduled shipment. You can choose weekly, monthly, and bi-monthly at some companies, depending on how much coffee you drink and how often you need to replenish. Most companies offer the opportunity to put a hold on orders, and also to add additional items to the order, as needed.
Is Coffee From a Subscription Fresher Than Coffee From a Store?
Generally, yes. Each company specifies how soon they ship after the beans are roasted. For example, Trade Coffee Ships within 24 hours of roasting, and Java Presse ships beans within two hours of roasting.
How Much Does a Coffee Subscription Cost?
The cost is determined by which coffee you order and how often it is delivered. For example, Copper Cow Coffee ships monthly and charges from $35- to $49 per month, whereas Mistobox coffees start at $10.95, plus shipping for a 12-ounce bag of coffee.
Methodology
We chose the best coffee subscriptions based on a variety of criteria, including best for the office, best pour-over, most eco-friendly, and best for international flavors.
For example, we chose Crema.co Coffee as the best coffee for the office because the company has a specific program designed for the workplace. We chose Copper Cow Coffee for its barista-quality brews for pour-overs. Our most eco-friendly choice is Driftaway Coffee because of its compostable packaging. And, we chose Atlas Coffee Club for its international flavors.
