The Best Memorial Day Sales

Chloe Jeong / Spruce Eats

As Memorial Day has come and gone, we’ve stopped updating this post with sales and can’t promise the ones below are still available. Check back later this year for updated deals.

It may have seemed like the longest winter ever, but thankfully summer’s finally here. And with it comes our favorite part of the season—grilling and barbequing, which coincide with summer sales, of course. Memorial Day came and went, but there's still time to shop the sales.

What is Memorial Day?

Memorial Day, which is on the last Monday in May every year, is a time when we remember the military personnel who have lost their lives while serving our country in the military.

It’s also one of the biggest sales days all year long, with thousands of products going on sale throughout the weekend leading up to the holiday—seriously, think every kitchen appliance, from grill pans to Instant Pots.

When is Memorial Day 2021?

This year, Memorial Day falls on Monday, May 31, and symbolizes the unofficial start of summer. Time to get those fish tacos and hot dogs ready to roast.

When Do Memorial Day Sales Start in 2021?

Right now! Brands like Oxo, Bloomingdales, Williams Sonoma, and many more have already announced sales or started them. You can look for the biggest discounts closer to the actual holiday, so likely starting Friday, May 28 through Monday, May 31.

What Goes on Sale for Memorial Day?

All kinds of kitchen appliances, upgrades, dishes, and more are on sale come Memorial Day. "According to RetailMeNot insights, shoppers will see an average of 60 percent off cookware items, from pots and pans to small appliances and even drinkware, plates, and silverware," says Sara Skirboll, Shopping & Trends Expert at RetailMeNot. In the past, brands like Belk, Home Depot, Lowe's, Overstock, Wayfair, and more have all had sales for the holiday weekend. Sign up for a brand's email newsletters to get the updates on all upcoming sales, says Skirboll.
