Free and easily accessible
Rotating roster of sommeliers

While the tasting component of Sommation isn’t the entire focus of these live chats on Instagram, the overall concept can definitely benefit wine industry folks and consumers alike. Each session begins with a wine tasting led by a sommelier host and featured winemaker, followed by the daily theme.
Themes include #MotivationMonday, which encourages viewers to check out wine, art, and music-focused events taking place around the country; #TastyTuesday, which features a live cooking segment; #WellnessWednesday, which includes everything from free yoga classes to mental health and creative writing coaching; and #ThirstyThursday, which centers around topics in the hospitality world. :fill(transparent):max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/Jordan-4b9954393a7041138ec1d6161c2d00c9.jpg)
Jordan
Why We Chose It: Jordan Winery brings the best of Sonoma County, California, straight to your home.
Ability to taste previous vintages
Maximum 50 people
Subject to availability
Jordan is one of the best in the game, and gathering around its delicious bottles always leads to a good time. We love the fact that tastings can be curated around what you already may have in your cellar, although Jordan does allow you to purchase wine from its collection and have it shipped to your home.
The tasting takes place over Zoom and is hosted by a staff member from the winery. The host will discuss what's new at Jordan, including details about its vintages. If you choose to drink your own wine during the event, the host will discuss that wine with you as well.
"This online wine tasting is our way of bringing Jordan's warm hospitality from our table to yours," the winery says on its website.
There is a 50-person limit for these events.
Best for Bubbles : Domaine Carneros
:fill(transparent):max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/DomaineCarneros-ad8e57ab871849ce91602bf89c784552.jpg)
Domaine Carneros
Why We Chose It: Popping a delicious bottle of bubbly is a celebration in itself, and virtual tastings with Domaine Carneros feature this effervescent sparkling wine.
No charge for tasting
Various curated packages available
Exclusive Zoom backdrop of the Domaine
Not for those who don’t enjoy sparkling wine
Bubbles only—need we say more? We can’t imagine a better way to send out the year than by adding a pop of shimmer to your virtual tastings at home.
Other than the cost of the wine, there’s no charge for the tasting with this vineyard located in Napa, California. A session lasts approximately 30 minutes and is held over Zoom. There are several wines to choose from, including an estate brut, a brut rose, and more. Contact the vineyard to schedule a session and select your wine.
Pro tip: Stock up on a handful of sparkling wine stoppers to preserve opened bottles once the tasting finishes—and maybe even plan a brunch for the following day so everyone can enjoy all of the leftover bubbles.
Best International : The Bordeaux Concierge

The Bordeaux Concierge
Why We Chose It: With Bordeaux Concierge, virtually traveling and tasting in one of France’s most prestigious regions has never been easier.
Tastings are free
Catalogue of past tastings available
Rotating hosts and wineries featured
Must purchase from their wine suppliers
These free, Bordeaux-focused tastings are a great way to experience Europe without actually going there. Although the wines featured tend to be relatively old (and expensive), the lack of obligation to purchase bottles makes them all the more enticing.
Access the list of wines to be sampled, then grab what you’ve got or purchase a younger, less-expensive cuvée from the wineries focused and have a fun time.
Best Customizable : Bottles Nation
:fill(transparent):max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/BottlesNation-cdb3cf7601e8471e8004427a5df91188.jpg)
Bottles Nation
Why We Chose It: Whether whiskey, beer, or a few splashes of wine is your preferred way of imbibing, Bottles Nation has the perfectly curated tasting just waiting to be discovered.
Various price tiers available
Hosted by certified sommeliers, cicerones, and mixologists
Up to 150 participants eligible per tasting
As much as we love wine tastings, shaking things up can provide some much-needed change. For those looking to dive deeper into the world of beer, scheduling a curated tasting with one of Bottles Nation’s certified experts in beer, wine, and liquor is a solid choice.
Although these events come with a flat fee, having up to 150 people able to join makes the price worth the while (plus, the customized packs leave the planning up to the folks at Bottles Nation). Simply choose your theme, sit back, and enjoy. Prices start at $350 for groups of up to four people, plus the alcohol cost.
Final Verdict
The choices for virtual wine tastings are as varied as the wine selections themselves. Whether you’re wanting to sample wines from a particular region, learn specific pairings, or try a free tasting before buying wine, there’s something for every wine drinker—and group size—in our selection.
