Blaz'n Grill Works Grand Slam Pellet Grill Review

A Blaz'n Grill Works Grand Slam
Blaz'n Grill Works

The Bottom Line

At around $1,100 USD the Blaz'n Grill Works Grand Slam has a lot of competition. When you consider that the pellet controller used in this model is the same as many others, what is there to make this pellet grill stand out? The double lined lower body section and thicker gauge metal helps to hold in heat. Many pellet grills fail at this, but Blaz'n Grill Works seems to be able to produce a better pellet grill, at least from a body construction standpoint.

Guide Review - Blaz'n Grill Works Grand Slam Pellet Grill

Blaz'n Grill Works is another recent entrant into the pellet grill market. A relatively small operation, but produce their grills in the United States with the same pellet controller now used by many manufacturers. This digital controller is adjustable in 5-degree increments, and this pellet grill hits a maximum temperature around 450 to 470 F, which is also pretty typical of this style.

The one thing that might differentiate this pellet grill from its similarly priced competition is the heavier construction. The bottom section is double layered steel, and the lid fits better than a lot of the grills on the market. It is also worth noting that the powder coating on the grill is very good, which helps to add to the overall durability of the grill.

Like all pellet grills, this model is limited in high-temperature capacity. As a smoker, it works just as well as any other pellet grill, and like many models, the option for searing is a set of GrillGrates for better heat transfer. This won't do that great high-temperature steak, but it will get close. Pellet grills are better smokers than grills, but we still call them grills.

This unit does not have an easy way to empty the pellet hopper if you wanted to change pellet flavors, but it does have a removable fire pot for easier cleaning. This makes maintenance, of which pellet grills require, a little easier.

All in all, this is one of the better pellet grills in the price range, though distribution and production are a little limited. This is going to be a mail order sort of product for most people, and we know that buying sight unseen can be a little daunting, but the support has been good, and the people behind this product line have been very responsive.
