Design: One (potential) flaw

The Bubba Envy Insulated Stainless Steel Tumbler has a pry-off lid that seals tightly, and it has a hole in the top for the included straw. The straw itself is big enough to handle chunky fruit smoothies, and it has wings at the bottom for stirring thicker beverages. 

The actual cup itself can hold 24 ounces of liquid and is made from a vacuum-insulated double wall. In simple terms, that means there are two layers to the cup, and the air was sucked out of the space between them. Because of this and the tight seal of the lid, the tumbler is able to regulate the temperature of the liquid inside quite effectively.

However, some people might not like that there’s no way to completely seal the lid. The hole in the lid doesn’t have a cover or flap, so it would be ill-advised to, say, put the travel cup in your bag during your commute. This also makes it more prone to spills than other sealable coffee mugs.

Performance: Stays hot for 5 hours and cold for 20

We used the Bubba Envy Stainless Steel Tumbler in place of our reusable water bottle for a couple weeks, and we were happy with how long it kept our water cold—literally all day. To see just how long the tumbler could keep water cold, we filled it with ice water and let it sit. After 20 hours, the water was still cool! The ice was gone, of course, but the temperature of the water was still refreshing.

We also used the Bubba Tumbler for smoothies, and this is one of the areas where it really shined. Why? First, when we got to the bottom of our smoothie, it wasn’t a melted mess thanks to the superior insulation, and second, the wings on the straw made stirring the smoothie much easier than it would’ve been with a normal straw.

We also wanted to see how well the Bubba Envy Stainless Steel Tumbler retains heat, so we put it through a tough test. On a cold January day, we filled the travel mug with boiling water and put it outside in the car.

After two hours, the water was still hot at 153 degrees. After four hours, the water was 132 degrees. At the seven hour mark, the water’s temperature had come down to 107 degrees. We were definitely impressed that it stayed warm for so long on a below-freezing day.

Material: Typical for a travel mug

This travel mug is made from stainless steel, which makes it stain- and odor-resistant. The lid is made of BPA-free plastic, and the straw is plastic, as well. There’s also padding on the bottom of the mug that’s made of silicone.

Features: Perfectly-placed indents for holding

There are two things that could have made this tumbler hard to hold: First, it’s large, and second, there’s no handle. However, to solve both those issues, there are indents circling the cup for your fingers.

It seems a little silly, but this small feature actually makes a huge difference! We’re happy to say that, because of these indents, holding the cup is comfortable. Plus, it fit perfectly into the cupholder of our car.

Cleaning: No surprises here

Overall, cleaning the Bubba Envy Stainless Steel Tumbler is a no-fuss process. Feel free to toss the lid and the straw in the top rack of your dishwasher, but the cup needs to be hand washed, which is typical for double-walled tumblers. The straw doesn’t come with a brush, but you can pick one up from just about any store for a few dollars.

Price: Super cheap 

Depending on the color you choose, the Bubba Envy Tumbler’s price will vary somewhere between $8 and $20. You can usually find the stainless steel color for under $10, and considering how well it maintains the temperature of both hot and cold beverages, it really is a steal!

Competition: There are better options for hot beverages
