This Japanese dish is made with marinated buri is fried with sweet soy sauce based sauce.


  • 4 fillets buri (yellowtail)
  • For the Marinade:
  • 2 tablespoon sake
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • For the Sauce:
  • 2 teaspoon sugar
  • 3 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 4 tablespoon mirin

Steps to Make It

  1. Mix sake and soy sauce in a bowl and marinate fish for 5-10 minutes.

  2. Mix ingredients for sauce in a small bowl and set aside.

  3. Wipe the fish with paper towels.

  4. Heat some oil in a frying pan and fry fish until changes color.

  5. Wipe some excess oil in the frying pan with a paper towel.

  6. Pour the seasoning mixture over fish.

  7. Simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes, or until the liquid is almost gone.
