Experience
Cathy Barrow is an award-winning author, a passionate knitter, traveler, gardener, and cook. She has written four cookbooks: Mrs. Wheelbarrow's Practical Pantry, Pie Squared, When Pies Fly, and Bagels, Schmears, and a Nice Piece of Fish. Cathy won an IACP award for best single subject cookbook Mrs. Wheelbarrow's Practical Pantry and was nominated for a James Beard Award in the Baking category for Pie Squared. For more than 5 years she wrote a monthly preserving column for the New York Times and for ten years she wrote a monthly food column for the Washington Post. Cathy's work has been published by Serious Eats, FOOD52, The Local Palate, Modern Farmer, Garden & Gun, Southern Living, NPR, and National Geographic.
Education
While I graduated with a degree in Psychology, later in life I went to graduate school for landscape designer. I'm a self-taught cook (or grandmother, great-grandmother, and mother-taught cook!)
