Whether in the midst of a global pandemic or just a typical Sunday running errands, Costco is the go-to for millions of families looking to stock up and save on bulk household products and groceries. The cost of admission for these savings is an annual $60 membership, which for some can feel difficult to justify.

A new Groupon deal, however, has us running for a Costco Gold Star membership of our own. If you buy a household membership through Groupon for the standard $60 and opt-in for auto-renewal via a Visa credit or debit card, you'll get a $40 Costco Shop Card good for anything in the store or online. That's like getting the first year of your membership for $20!

Additionally, Costco offers an even more robust selection online, where you can beat the crowds. With your Groupon, you'll also receive a code for $40 off an online purchase of $250 or more, which we all know can be all too easy to do at Costco. Between the $40 code and the $40 Shop Card, that's $80 back on your $60 fee, meaning you can actually make money with this deal.

A Gold Star Membership gives you access to Costco's affordable gas pumps and bulk sizes on fresh produce, frozen foods, and snacks, as well as membership savings on top electronics, housewares, appliances, and consumer products brands and much, much more. Not to mention the other perks like its food court ($1.50 jumbo hot dogs anyone?) and competitively priced pharmacy, vision, hearing, and photo services. Need we say more?

This offer is available to new members only, or those that had memberships expire prior to April 1, 2020, and is not good for membership renewals. Once you purchase your Groupon voucher, you will be redirected to Costco's website to complete your purchase. For more details and the terms, read "The Fine Print" on the Groupon deal.
