Believe it or not, chocolate fondue is one of the easiest dessert recipes on the planet. It seems so luxurious and complicated to make, but it's not. Especially when you use the slow cooker. All you have to do is stir it once while the chocolate is melting.
Serve this decadent sweet fondue right in your crock pot, or you can pour it into a fondue pot with a candle or canned heat for serving. We recommend using an electric fondue pot, as it keeps the fondue at just the right serving temperature so you don't have to worry about a thing; just keep dipping!
You can use chocolate chips instead of the bars of chocolate that have been chopped in this recipe. Choose good quality chocolate, whether you use chips or bars.
We like to serve this dessert with fresh strawberries, pound cake slices, donut holes, and macaroons. Marshmallows are another decadent treat. Choose a soft cookie for dipping; you have to be able to get the fondue fork into it!
Ingredients
-
18 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
-
1 ounce unsweetened chocolate, chopped
-
6 ounces milk chocolate, chopped
-
1 (13-ounce) can evaporated milk
-
1/4 cup confectioners' sugar
-
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
-
Fruit, cookies, and cake pieces, for dipping
Steps to Make It
-
Gather the ingredients.
-
Combine the semisweet chocolate, unsweetened chocolate, milk chocolate, evaporated milk, and powdered sugar in a 3-quart crock pot.
-
Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 45 minutes.
-
Stir well, add the vanilla, stir again, and continue cooking, if necessary, on low for another 10 to 20 minutes to completely melt all of the chocolate.
-
This fondue can be held on low for another hour. Serve with dippers for a fabulous dessert. Think of unusual dippers to use—marshmallows, soft candy bars, and cookies would be delicious.
-
Enjoy!
