Crockpot Make Ahead Breakfast Recipes

Use your crockpot to make breakfast ahead of time! Just start the night before and you'll wake up to delicious smells and a healthy and hearty breakfast.

But be careful, especially if you have a newer, hotter cooking crockpot. As I wrote in New Hot Crockpot Update, food burns easily in the new crockpots because they are manufactured to cook at a higher temperature than models of 10 or even 5 years ago. Check the food at about an hour before the shortest time given in the recipe. Once you know how your crockpot works, you'll be able to adjust cooking times. But make sure that the food is thoroughly cooked! Egg dishes should reach a temperature of 165 degrees F, and all meats should be thoroughly cooked. Taste oatmeal to make sure it's not hard and crunchy.

Make sure that you are choosing the right size crockpot for these easy recipes. Since the food will be cooking for quite a long time, this step is crucial. If a crockpot is filled less than half full, the food may burn in the cooking time. And if a slow cooker is filled more than 3/4 full, the appliance may overflow, or the food won't cook to a safe temperature in the alloted time.

If your recipe includes eggs, make sure you test the final internal temperature before you serve the food. Any recipe containing eggs should reach 165°F on a reliable food thermometer.
