Experience

Dennis Sim is a former writer for The Spruce for about seven months. He loves good food and enjoys cooking for his family and friends. He was initiated into the art of cooking at 15 with a lesson on how to cut up a whole chicken. He then learned the art of making rempah, the spicy paste that forms the base for many Southeast Asian dishes. Dennis currently lives in Kuala Lumpur with his wife and two children.

Dennis used to run a Malaysian restaurant in Belsize Park, a fashionable part of London. He served guests such gastronomic delights as satay, curry chicken, char kuay teow, or Penang-style fried noodles.

He has cooked and photographed recipes for publication and contributed to a book on how to run a restaurant. Currently, he spends a lot of his time preparing no-fuss dishes, mostly from Southeast Asia, for his family.
