The Spruce

The Theater District is close to our hearts. Back in the pre-pandemic days—when The Spruce Eats team still worked out of our office on 43rd and Broadway—we'd see the marquees out our windows and weave through the matinee crowds on our way to pick up lunch.

Like all Broadway fans, we've been sad to see shows shuttered and wanted to find a way to give back. That's why we're teaming up with talented stars from Aladdin, Mean Girls, and more to launch a series called "Dinner Music." Filmed at home, the videos feature our favorite stars and their musical interpretations of recipes such as fried rice, elote, and steak au poivre.

Tune into our Instagram account @thespruceeats every Saturday starting August 29 to catch the show and make a donation to the Broadway Cares COVID-19 Emergency Fund.

August 29: Telly Leung

The Aladdin and Glee star belts out his tips and tricks for perfect fried rice (hint: it involves a lot of garlic).

September 5: Krystina Alabado

"You can't sit with us" if you don't love Hawaiian pizza, as performed by Alabado (aka Mean Girls' Gretchen Wieners).

September 12: Matt Doyle

Doyle—who plays the role of Jamie in Company—proves that this chocolate chip pie is worth crooning about.

September 19: Brooke Monroe and Cornell Conway

The father-daughter duo go big with their duet about a giant ice cream sandwich cake.

September 26: Taylor Louderman

Mean Girls actress Louderman (Regina George) has a romantic night in with classic steak au poivre.

October 3: Vicci Martinez and Emily Tarver

Partners in song and life, Martinez and Tarver—of Orange Is the New Black fame—harmonize about elote.

October 10: Ari Groover

Raise a glass to Groover's (currently Alline on TINA) ode to whiskey steak.
