This easy vegan apple pie recipe uses a pre-made pie crust and few ingredients, so it's simple to prepare. Chopping the apples does take some time, so if you've got an apple slicer, you may want to use that to save time.

Enjoy a homemade vegan apple pie for Thanksgiving or Christmas using just six ingredients. It's the perfect vegan Thanksgiving dessert, and would be perfect for a vegan Christmas dinner as well. 

Note that this is a single-crust apple pie, which means that the top is not covered with a pie crust, which means that this simple vegan pie is even easier than most, and you can use a store-bought pie crust, or even a simple homemade vegan graham cracker crust.

Ingredients

  • 4 to 5 Granny Smith apples (cored and thinly sliced)
  • 1 (9-inch) pie crust (pre-made)
  • 1/3 cup vegan margarine (or a vegan butter substitute, softened, divided)
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon grated nutmeg

Steps to Make It

  1. Gather the ingredients.

  2. Pre-heat the oven to 350 F.

  3. Place the sliced apples in the prepared pie crust. Dot the apples with half of the vegan margarine.

  4. Next, stir the rest of the softened vegan margarine into the brown sugar and add the cinnamon and nutmeg.

  5. Crumble this sugar mixture on top of the apples.

  6. Place the pie in the oven and then bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the apples are very soft when pierced with a knife.

  7. Slice, serve, and enjoy!
