I am Elaine Blenkinsop and hope you enjoy the delights of French Food and Cooking through the recipes and features I will share with you.
A Little About Me.
Though born and raised in the United Kingdom, at an early age I fell in love with all things French. It started with studying the French language in school and spending time there studying to eventually, living in the depths of rural France. I lived in the Perigord renowned not only for its outstanding beauty but also considered one of the gastronomic centres in the country.
Following a successful career in art and design, while living in France, I retrained at the prestigious Ecole de Gastronomie Francaise Ritz-Escoffier in Paris. But, my greatest teacher was Mme Grande, the wife of our local plumber beside who I learned one of the most important aspects of French cooking - the care and love necessary for creating great food. Working alongside Mme Grande I learned the classics of the French kitchen, the importance of seasonality and the provenance.
In the Perigord, I opened my first Cooking School at Le Boulou and subsequently formed the renowned Cuisine Eclairée school with classes in Sweden, the USA, the UK and Italy.
Cuisine Eclairée attracted much media attention and involved my Guest Chef appearances on television with Channel 4, Yorkshire TV, NBC in the USA and TV4 in Sweden. I had a regular slot on BBC Radio and appeared on The Food Programme, BBC Radio 4. National press coverage includes The Sunday Times, Harpers & Queens, Homes and Gardens, regional and overseas magazines and newspapers.
I am the author of three food books and was voted one of the top 50 food writers in the United Kingdom. I am a member of the Guild of Food Writers.
