This fruity green tea smoothie recipe by Elin Headrick of Teafolio was the unanimous winner of the July 2010 Monthly Tea Recipe Contest. Judge Chris Cason of Tavalon said, "The texture was perfect and the tea didn't get too lost in the mix... I could actually see myself making this every morning!" Guest judge Gail Baral of Algabar added, "I love this preparation. It's so simple, I wish I had thought of it! What I really appreciate is that I can brew a large pot of tea and freeze enough ice cubes for several smoothies" or for juice.

  • 5 green tea ice cubes

  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt or kephir / kefir
  • 1/2 Banana
  • 1/2 Peach, sliced
  • 1/2 cup blueberries or strawberries

Steps to Make It

  1. A day prior make a batch of green tea ice cubes with your favorite green tea. Brew the tea a little stronger than you normally would.

  2. Blend the ingredients together in blender, garnish with a few more berries and enjoy.
