This salsa recipe from Tequila Herradura is quick and easy and is perfect for Super Bowl parties. It includes just enough tequila for extra flavor, but not too much to where you'll be drunk by the time the bowl's gone. Anyone can make this salsa, even if you have minimal experience in the kitchen; just chop and mix.

We would suggest using blanco tequila, but I also tried it with a reposado, which added a rich agave flavor to the mix.

This is a fresh salsa and there is no chance for the alcohol to cook-off. It would be wise to make a version without the tequila if there are children or guests who cannot have alcohol at your party. Clearly mark which bowl includes tequila so there is no confusion.

What You'll Need

How to Make It

  1. Mix tomatoes, onions, chilies, garlic, cilantro, and oil until all items are coated in the oil.
  2. Mix in lime, water, and tequila.
  3. Leave as is for a chunky style of salsa or puree in a blender or food processor for a smooth, paste style.
  4. Add salt and pepper to taste.
