Fried eggs are just as popular on the Middle Eastern breakfast menu as they are in the United States. But instead of a simple cracked egg cooked in a bit of oil or butter, this flavorful recipe features garlic, lemon juice, and chopped fresh parsley, making for a savory and interesting egg dish that will excite the whole family.
But just because it includes more ingredients doesn't mean this recipe is complicated or will take a long time to make. This garlic fried egg recipe just adds one additional step and will be on the breakfast table in about five minutes!
- Butter (or cooking spray, to coat frying pan)
- 1 tablespoon garlic (minced)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (or to taste)
- 1 teaspoon fresh parsley (finely chopped)
Over medium heat, melt butter in a frying pan, or coat the pan with cooking spray before heating. Add garlic and lemon juice and saute for about 2 minutes, watching to make sure the garlic doesn't burn.
Crack eggs into frying pan. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and cook for about 2 minutes, until yolk begins to get a little firm.
Flip eggs carefully and sprinkle again with salt and pepper. Allow to cook for 1 to 2 minutes (longer if you like a firmer yolk).
Remove from frying pan, sprinkle with parsley, and serve immediately.
