Grilled Herb and Butter Sourdough Toast Recipe

The high, intense heat of your typical grill is an excellent way to toast bread. Keep a close eye out to make sure it doesn't burn. You'll get a lot more flavor out of this slice of bread than anything toasted.

Ingredients

  • 1 sourdough loaf cut in half lengthwise
  • 1/2 cup/120 mL room temperature unsalted butter
  • 2 teaspoons/10 mL paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon/2.5 mL dried oregano leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon/2.5 mL garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon/1.25 mL cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon/1.25 mL cayenne
  • 1 teaspoon/5 mL sea salt

Steps to Make It

  1. Combine butter with garlic, paprika oregano, cumin, cayenne, and salt.

  2. Spread onto cut side of the sourdough loaf.

  3. Preheat the grill for medium-high heat.

  4. Place a large piece of aluminum foil onto the grill grate and place bread onto grill buttered side up.

  5. Close lid and cook for 5-7 minutes, until the butter, is melted.

  6. Remove from grill, slice, and serve.
