Bamboo Cheeseboar

I love a charcuterie board. There’s something so delicious (and fun!) about grabbing little bites of this and that, switching from savory to sweet (or creamy to crunchy), and combining elements to create what I like to call “the perfect bite.” When I got a bamboo charcuterie board as a wedding gift from a fellow foodie friend, I was excited about all the delicious possibilities it opened up.

My husband and I celebrated our three-year wedding anniversary just a few weeks ago, and this cheeseboard has definitely been one of our most used (and favorite) wedding gifts.

What We Like
  • Slots for every bowl and tool

  • Natural wood finish

  • Expandable

  • Perfect for entertaining

What We Don't Like
  • Large size can be hard to wash

  • Some cracking over time

The board I have is by a brand called House Ur Home, but you can find almost exactly the same board on Amazon without the branding or sold under a different name. The product I’ve linked to is similar to the one I have, but it has a few more features, including extra sliding wood compartments that offer more space for food and serving plates.

My cheeseboard comes with two square ceramic bowls, two round bowls, cheese knives, two small forks, a wine opener, labels, and markers. It has two sliding drawers: one with square slots that fit the two square bowls and another with carved slots that perfectly fit the rest of the tools. The main board has two round slots for the round bowl and a curved groove around the perimeter that’s ideal for crackers.

The sliding drawers can make the board a little tricky to clean, and I’d recommend removing them when cleaning the main board. While the product listing says this board is dishwasher-safe, given that it’s made out of wood, I’d suggest hand washing and drying immediately to prevent any warping or splintering. Same goes for the cheese knives, as even though the blades are stainless steel, the handles are bamboo and prone to the same issues.

After many uses and careful hand washing, my board has one small spot that is on the verge of splintering, but it looks brand new otherwise.

Whether you’re entertaining old friends or trying to impress your new in-laws, enjoying a low-key date night, or having a snacky dinner featuring leftovers from the fridge, this bamboo board is up for the task.

My husband and I celebrated our three-year wedding anniversary just a few weeks ago, and this cheeseboard has definitely been one of our most used (and favorite) wedding gifts. We love breaking it out when we’re watching football (snacks are a huge part of my newfound football obsession), hosting game night (taking bites between rounds of charades), and even when we’re slicing up a juicy steak––that cracker groove has proven to be a great juice catcher. And now that I’ve learned how to make an Insta-worthy charcuterie board that looks as great as it tastes (thanks, Natasha’s Kitchen), it’s become my go-to for hosting guests in my home.

As far as what actually goes on my charcuterie boards, I like to start out with three different cheeses. I love Brie (especially this lactose-free one that’s easier on my stomach), herb-covered goat cheese logs, and mini fresh mozzarella balls (placed in a round bowl to keep everything nice and neat). Next I add the cured meats, usually a prepackaged variety pack from the grocery store, folding and fanning them out on the board. I fill the remaining spaces on the board with various accompaniments (such as olives, gherkins, and jams), fruit, nuts, squares of chocolate, and crackers.

In general, this cheeseboard is a fun way to enjoy charcuterie and snacks. Whether you’re entertaining old friends or trying to impress your new in-laws, enjoying a low-key date night (staying in is awesome), or having a snacky dinner featuring leftovers from the fridge, this bamboo board is up for the task. Ordering charcuterie boards made by someone else can be expensive, and this $60 board is the perfect base for a delicious DIY spread. Plus, when you make it yourself, you can choose exactly what cheeses, meats, accompaniments, and sweets are included, so it’s curated to your personal taste.
