The fabulous part about this quick sangria recipe is that you don't need to host a party to enjoy it. Sangria is a great drink for any occasion, even if there is no 'occasion' and you simply want a relaxing drink after a long day.
The way it works is simple (and brilliant). That fantastic fruit mix that forms sangria is made into a slush that you freeze into cubes and keep in the freezer until it's time for a drink. When the time comes, simply pour a glass of wine, add a few sangria cubes and voila! Your very own fresh sangria is ready to enjoy.
Keep these sangria cubes in stock and you'll have an instant wine cocktail ready any time guests show up for a visit.
- 1 lemon
- 1 lime
- 1 orange
- 1 cup raspberries
- 1/2 cup strawberries
- 1/3 to 1/2 cup sugar (sweeten to taste)
- 2 cups ginger ale
- 1 750 ml bottle wine (red or white)
Peel the lemon, lime, and orange and remove the seeds.
Put the citrus fruits into a blender with the raspberries, strawberries, sugar, and ginger ale.
Blend all of the ingredients (except the wine) together, until it is "slushy."
Pour the sangria slush into ice cube trays and freeze.
When the mixture is completely frozen, pop the sangria cubes into a plastic freezer bag and keep frozen.
When you're ready to drink the sangria, pour yourself a glass of wine and plop 3 to 5 of your Sangria cubes into the glass.
