Jessie is a recipe developer, baker, food writer, and cookbook author. She loves making simple, old-school, easy-peasy sweets more than just about anything else and is particularly fond of chocolate pudding and any and all pies topped with toasted meringue.

Jessie is the author of "The Vintage Baker" (one of the Washington Post’s best cookbooks of 2018) and the co-author of "Icebox Cakes." She has developed recipes for many other cookbooks and has contributed recipes and video content to Better Homes & Garden, Rachael Ray Everyday, The Washington Post, Yankee Magazine, Epicurious, Food52, Fine Cooking, The Kitchn, TASTE, The Hallmark Channel's Home & Family Show, Feedfeed, Chowhound, Yummly, and Little Sous.

She blogs at Jessie Sheehan Bakes and lives in Red Hook, Brooklyn with her husband and two boys, not far from her beloved Baked, the bakery where she got her start.


Jessie received a Bachelor of Art from Barnard College and a Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law.
