The Spruce Eats / Kat Lieu
Kat Lieu is a former doctor of physical therapy turned best-selling cookbook author. She is a full-time writer, content creator, activist and the founder of the global group, Subtle Asian Baking.
Experience
Kat baked her first cake at the age of four, if you count cracking and breaking eggs as baking. She has cooked for her family all her life, but really delved into home baking in 2017 when she moved from NYC to Seattle. Since 2017, Kat has been honing her baking skills, especially Asian baking, and she has authored a cookbook all about baking the Asian way. Kat has taught multiple classes with organizations such as Hot Stove Society, the Pantry, Dash of Soy, and Tastemade, and her food articles have appeared on Epicurious, The Kitchn, and now Spruce Eats.
