Katrina Munichiello is a freelance writer and editor whose career began in the tea industry. Her work has appeared in Yankee Magazine, Connecticut Magazine, and the Boston Globe Sunday Magazine. A highlight of her career was covering a Mother’s Day tea event at the White House.
- Katrina began at Dotdash Meredith in December 2018 as a fact checker.
- She has been an editor and writer for a number of publications related to the tea and food industries.
- In 2011, she published the book, “A Tea Reader: Living Life One Cup at a Time.”
Growing up in central Maine, Katrina’s house was a favorite among friends because of her mom’s legendary bread baking and always-full cookie jar. Food was a thread that united the family, from her grandparent’s diner to her aunt and uncle’s restaurant that at one point or another has employed eight family members.
After college, Katrina discovered the world of specialty tea and launched into a deep study of its origins and flavor profiles. She was hired as a writer and editor of World Tea News, a weekly newsletter for the tea industry. She then helped relaunch a small quarterly tea magazine into an internationally distributed monthly publication. Her work spread beyond the tea industry as she began working as a fact checker for a publisher of culinary magazines and cookbooks.
She currently resides in Massachusetts where she spends her free time volunteering for community organizations and writing novels for young adults.
Katrina has a Bachelor’s degree in biology from Tufts University and a Master’s degree in Public Health from Boston University. She has Level I and II certification from the Specialty Tea Institute.
