Katya Weiss-Andersson is a cluster writer for The Spruce Eats, and has eight years of experience as a professional chef. - Her work has appeared in Greatist, MissMuslim, Ethel Magazine, GoddessCeremony and she's been interviewed for articles published in Vice, Byline Times and more.

Experience
After working in the restaurant industry and owning a food business, Katya became an independent contractor focusing on recipe development and retreat catering, and began integrating writing and editing contracts into her culinary work. She has cooked in New York, Italy, Palestine, and is now based in Denver, and has been published by Greatist, MissMuslim, GoddessCeremony and more. Katya loves to work on practical culinary content that helps to make cooking less daunting and more do-able.
Favorite Purchase
In my small kitchen with limited counter space, the Gourmia 7 Quart Digital Air Fryer does the work of an oven, a toaster oven, a deep fryer, a microwave and a dehydrator, and it does most of those jobs in less time. Runners up: the Cuisinart Mini-Prep Plus for saving endless amounts of time in mincing garlic, ginger and chillies, and the NutriBullet Pro for high-powered blending that takes up less than half the space of a normal blender
Education
Katya completed a bachelor's degree in education at Ithaca College, and went on to do a sous chef internship under Chef Matt Props in Durham, NC and a stage at Dirt Candy on NYC's Lower East Side.
Other Works:
- On Navigating Parental Estrangement, Greatist
- The Birthright Agenda, MissMuslim
- The Ethos and Ethical Crisis of Liberal Zionism, MissMuslim
- Katya's Podcast, Love & Light Confessionals, on iTunes, Spotify and Google Podcasts
