Lauren David is a Chilean-American freelance writer, who was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and has been immersed in the world of food for over 15 years.
Lauren's love of food began when she was child, always eager to observe what her dad was cooking and wanting to help out, too.
Lauren's career in food began shortly after a 9-month backpacking adventure from East to South Africa where she noticed that top quality produce grown in South Africa wasn't readily available at the grocery store because it was exported. This led her to her curiosity of who grows our food and the complex web of the global food system. She worked as a farmers' market manager where she worked directly with farmers and gained insight into the complexities of farmers markets. She also worked as a garden and nutritional educator for K through 12, where she taught garden education and encouraged kids and teens to taste new foods.
Her work has appeared in Allrecipes, Better Homes & Gardens, Business Insider, Greatist, Huffpost Food, MindBodyGreen, The Healthy, The Kitchn, Reader's Digest, Southern Living, and more.
She loves spending time by the ocean, planting diverse vegetable varieties and getting to know a culture and new place through their gastronomy. You'll find her frequenting farmers markets, experimenting in the kitchen and daydreaming about her next trip.
She has a B.A. degree in Cultural Anthropology from San Francisco State University.
