These candy bar cookie squares are a great way to use leftover Halloween candy. Although this is one of those recipes using Snickers candy bars, you can certainly substitute Milky Ways, 1000-Dollar Bars or any other leftover Halloween candy in this recipe. You'd think these candy bar squares would be overly sweet, but they really aren't.
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup flour (all-purpose)
- 1 cup oats (rolled, quick cooking or regular oatmeal)
- 1/3 cup sugar (light brown, firmly-packed)
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 40 1/4-inch slices candy bars (Snickers)
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray an 8-inch square baking dish with cooking spray.
- In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium-low heat. When butter is melted, remove pan from heat and add flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda and vanilla. Mix until well-combined.
- Set aside about one-third of the mixture. Press the remaining mixture into prepared pan. Lay sliced Snickers bars over top, leaving a 1/4-inch border all the way around. Crumble remaining oat mixture over the sliced candy bars.
- Bake 25 minutes. Cool completely, then cut into squares.
Makes 16 Snickers candy bar squares.
