Liz Tarpy
Liz Tarpy is a seasoned recipe developer and tester, recipe editor, writer, and researcher of all things food. Recently, she's become interested in mixing up creative cocktails at home and enjoying them on the stoop or by the fire, depending on the season.
Experience
Liz cooked in seasonal inns along the coast of Maine during summers in college, but that life wasn't for her in the long run. After 10 or so years in other industries, however, she missed working with food and decided to attend culinary school to find a door out of restaurants and into what, she didn't yet know.
Her culinary internship while at Johnson & Wales in Providence, RI took her to the kitchen and studios of the Food Network. There, she worked behind the scenes on some of their most famous shows and cooked in the test kitchen. After the internship, Liz remained in NYC to make a go of the freelance life, gaining experience in food TV production, recipe editing, and recipe testing, among other things. Seven years into freelancing, Liz was hired at Food Network as Senior Editor in the culinary editorial department.
But sitting at a desk all day every day wasn't where she wanted to spend her time, so after a few years she returned to freelancing and hasn't looked back. She's since developed recipe content for brands, websites, and meal kit delivery companies along with continued recipe editing, writing, and working in food TV.
