Lynn Livanos Athan is a former writer for The Spruce, contributing Greek-related articles and recipes for one year. As a first-generation Greek American, Lynn learned to make the traditional food of Greece in the kitchen beside her mother, grandmother, and aunts. Fluent in Greek, she has traveled to the country since childhood, absorbing the culture and the tastes firsthand. She enjoyed a career in the advertising industry for many years while maintaining her passion for food and cooking. Eventually, she was able to turn her focus to the culinary arts full time. She teaches Greek cooking classes and enjoys leading cooking demonstrations at culinary stores and cultural festivals.
Lynn earned a bachelor's degree in English from the State University of New York at Albany. She received her culinary training at the Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Chicago, Illinois.
