If you have fruit in the house you are in luck. This is by far the most delicious maple syrup alternatives. It is super easy to turn fruit into a delicious syrup of compote. Add a cup of frozen or fresh berries into a saucepan with a 1/4 cup of sugar. Cook for about 5 minutes stirring frequently until slightly thickened. You can also add jam and a little water to a saucepan. Heat it for about 5 minutes and serve it over pancakes or waffles. You can use virtually any fruit. Berries like raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries are the most common and work the best!

A pre-made chocolate sauce is probably the easiest topping solution. You can also melt some chocolate chips with a little heavy cream in a double boiler and pour it over the pancakes. We also like to drizzle Nutella over french toast or pancakes and add sliced strawberries or bananas.
