If you love bloody Marys, (and even if you don't) you'll want to try the Michelada. Think of this cocktail as a less intense version of the classic tomato-based brunch drink. You can control the amount of spice that goes into your cocktail, being as heavy-handed (or not) with the hot sauce as you'd like. Full of savory spices and flavors, the Michelada will be your new favorite brunch cocktail.


  • 1 lime wedge
  • 1/4 cup salt, for the rim of the glass
  • 1 light beer (Mexican beer is best)
  • 1/4 cup tomato juice
  • Juice of 1/2 lime
  • 3 dashes of Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 dashes soy sauce
  • Hot sauce to taste
  • Ground black pepper to taste

Steps to Make It

  1. Gather the ingredients.

  2. Rub cut lime around the rim of a pint glass and roll the rim in salt to coat.

  3. Fill the glass with ice and add beer. You want a light beer for this and Mexican beer is best. Leave some room at the top for the tomato juice.

  4. Add the tomato juice.

  5. Add lime juice.

  6. Add 3 dashes of Worcestershire sauce, 2 dashes soy sauce, and as much hot sauce as you like.

  7. Top with fresh ground black pepper.
