These tasty burgers are stuffed with sliced sauteed mushrooms and then they're broiled or grilled to perfection.

If you're looking for a burger recipe with a little something different, this is an excellent choice.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef

  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped

  • 2 medium eggs, slightly beaten

  • 3/4 cup soft breadcrumbs

  • 1/4 cup ketchup

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 8 ounces  mushrooms, sliced

  • 6 slices cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or American)

  • 6 large buns, split and toasted

Steps to Make It

  1. Gather the ingredients.

  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, eggs, breadcrumbs, ketchup, salt, and pepper.

  3. Shape the beef mixture into 12 thin (about 1/4-inch thick) patties.

  4. In a skillet, melt the butter and sauté the mushrooms until just tender.

  5. Place mushrooms on 6 of the patties.

  6. Top with the remaining patties and seal the edges.

  7. Broil, pan-grill, or grill the burgers to your desired doneness.

  8. Top each burger with a slice of cheese and let the cheese melt.

  9. Serve on split toasted buns with lettuce and tomatoes, or condiments and vegetables of your choice. Enjoy!

Glass Bakeware Warning

Do not use glass bakeware when broiling or when a recipe calls to add liquid to a hot pan, as glass may explode. Even if it states oven-safe or heat resistant, tempered glass products can, and do, break occasionally.
