I’m an avid collector of barware, especially vintage. I spend a lot of time searching the web and local thrift stores seeking out the perfect tools. My home bar is overflowing with cocktail shakers. Some of these shakers are just for display, but many I use all the time to make cocktails. Many were given to me when I was invited to events by alcohol brands.
This tiny bar tool was in my bag when I traveled to Romania and Ireland where I experienced two hard lockdowns during the pandemic.
My favorite shaker these days is my Newness Mini Cocktail Shaker with a strainer that I got at a cocktail-making class in London. It’s about 8.4oz and I call it my travel-size shaker as it easily fits in my bag.
Newness Stainless Steel Cocktail Shaker with Strainer and Lid Top
Easy to use
Makes a single drink
Built-in strainer is limited
I’m the girl who will make cocktails when I’m invited to a party. Because I don’t want to lug around all my vintage shakers, this little thing conveniently fits right in my bag.
Not only is this mini shaker compact compared to a standard cobbler shaker, but it’s easy to use and fits easily into the palm of your hand.
When I moved to Berlin, I didn’t want to bring something that would take up a lot of room in my suitcase as I had limited luggage and no permanent residence, so there was no point in bringing one of my bigger shakers. I knew I still wanted to make cocktails, so this mini-shaker was the best option. This tiny bar tool was in my bag when I traveled to Romania and Ireland where I experienced two hard lockdowns during the pandemic. I made many cocktails during this time and was happy I had the forethought to bring it with me.
Not only is this mini shaker compact compared to a standard cobbler shaker, but it’s easy to use and fits easily into the palm of your hand. It comes with a shaker cup, an airtight lid, and a built-in strainer that’s perfect for a single shaken cocktail such as a Bee’s Knees or daiquiri. This mini shaker is made from stainless steel with a mirror matte finish, is leakproof, and will not rust. I also love that the lid comes off very easily and doesn’t get stuck from the chill of the ice. And the clean-up is oh so easy as you can just pop it in the dishwasher. It makes the perfect gift for any home bartender.
While the compact size is practical, the main drawback is that when I’m making drinks for friends, I can only really make one cocktail at a time. It may be extra work and a little time-consuming, but it’s still better than no cocktails! The built-in strainer is convenient but can also be limiting as it allows for a lot of the ingredients to get into the glass. If you’re particular, like me, you can always pour the drink from the shaker and use a separate strainer.
After using the Newness Mini Cocktail Shaker for the last four years, it is my go-to shaker for making my own cocktails. My boozy love affair is strong with this product and would recommend it to anyone who loves to make drinks at home or on the go.
