Performance: Delightfully as expected

Using the Oster Cordless Electric Wine Bottle Opener, we were able to open a wine bottle in a matter of seconds. The opener is extremely easy to operate. Place it directly on top of a wine bottle and be sure to hold it in an upright position. To turn it on, press down on the switch. The unit’s corkscrew will penetrate the cork and gradually remove it from the bottle. It will stop automatically once the cork has been fully released from the bottle. To remove the cork from the opener, move it away from the bottle and press down on the upper portion of the switch. The spiral turns in the opposite direction and releases the cork. We used the opener on four bottles of wine and it worked like a charm each time.

We were pleased to discover that the Oster Electric Wine Opener comes with a foil cutter, which makes the bottle-opening process even easier. Simply place the foil cutter over the top of the bottle, squeeze gently, and turn. It will seamlessly cut the foil and save you the trouble of having to peel it off by hand.

Design: Sleek and easy to use

Oster’s sleek and ergonomic design makes it easy to hold in one hand. Since the opener is only 2.25 inches in diameter, we were able to maintain a firm grip on it. There is an LED light at the top of the unit, which lights up red when the opener is charging in its base. Purely from an aesthetic standpoint, we thought the red light was a bit harsh. The LED lights on our other appliances are blue and we find that more pleasant to the eye. When the electric wine opener is fully charged, the red light will turn off. It takes about six to eight hours to completely charge the unit. On a full charge, it can open about 30 bottles of wine.

We like the Oster’s sleek design and attractive appearance; the silver unit blends in nicely with our stainless steel appliances.

The Oster Cordless Electric Wine Bottle Opener is available in two color finishes: silver and black. This is a plus if you want to match it to your kitchen or personalize a gift. With a base measuring 5.5 x 5.3 inches, the unit takes up minimal counter space. Price: A high-quality tool for an affordable price

Retailing for $18, this wine opener offers excellent performance for a reasonable price. When it comes to basic electric wine openers, this tool gets the job done well. If you’re looking for a product with more advanced features, you’ll have to increase your budget.

Competition: Lots of options, depending on your budget

Wine Enthusiast Electric Bottle Opener and Preserver Set: Retailing for $69.95, the Wine Enthusiast set is a pricier option that offers a few more bells and whistles. Like the Oster, it comes with a foil cutter, but it also includes a vacuum pump, two stoppers, and an aerating pourer. This device serves a dual purpose: Not only can it open a bottle, but it will also help to preserve the wine for a day or two afterward.

Brookstone Automatic Wireless Wine Opener: If you’re short on counter space, this $30 cordless unit runs solely on batteries. Since it never has to be plugged into a wall outlet, you can store it anywhere you’d like (AKA your junk drawer). The Brookstone Automatic Wireless Wine Opener can open up to 150 bottles of wine before new batteries (four AAs) are needed.

Secura Stainless Steel Electric Wine Opener: This similarly priced wine opener also earns excellent reviews for its ease of use and solid performance. We found its translucent corkscrew design particularly helpful because you can see the cork removal process.

Final Verdict

We highly recommend it.

The Oster Cordless Electric Wine Bottle Opener is a budget-friendly tool that makes bottle-opening almost entirely effortless. This sleek space-saver looks great on a bar top or kitchen counter. If you want a solid performer at a reasonable price, you can’t go wrong.
