    How to Make Emoji Rice Krispies Treats

    Who doesn't love Rice Krispie treats? There are endless variations on the popular school lunch treat, and tons of creative ways to shape and mold the dessert. 

    Here, we've create this step-by-step guide for parents to demonstrate the endless possibilities of treat making with Rice Krispies. These fun, easy-to-make emoji treats are the perfect addition to any family’s holiday dessert table

    Ingredients & Supplies

    • 3 cups Rice Krispies cereal
    • 2 cups mini marshmallows
    • 4 1/2 teaspoons butter
    • yellow food coloring
    • Decorating icing (I prefer Wilton) in Black, White, and Pink


    • Nonstick pot
    • Measuring cups
    • Cooking spray
    • Icing decorating tip (to screw on to icing tube)

    Melt the Butter

    Step 1: Melt butter on low heat in a large nonstick pot.

    Add the Mini Marshmallows

    Step 2: When butter is almost melted, add mini marshmallows and stir to coat.  Allow marshmallows to melt about 75-80%, add a few drops of yellow food coloring and stir.  Turn off burner and add Rice Krispies Cereal.

    Tip:  Flavor your treats using extracts, powdered cake mixes, muffin mixes, and cookie mixes by adding a few drops or scoops along with the Rice Krispies.  Try mix-ins like peanut butter, chocolate chips, or cake mixes to experiment with even more great flavors.

    Simplest Cake Ring Prep

    Step 3: Prep the cake ring by spraying it with cooking spray.  

    Tip: Get creative with molds! I often use household items like buckets and bowls to shape my treats.

    Step 4: Pour mixture into center of cake ring and spread to edges before removing cake ring.

    Tip: Coat your hands with cooking spray before molding and reapply as needed.

    Draw the smile

    Step 5: Using black icing, draw the blinking eye and smile.  

    Tip: A little icing goes a long way, try something simple like a smiley face and see your treats really come to life.  Don't be afraid to get a little messy!

    Finishing touches

    Step 6:  Using white icing, draw the other eye, add pupil with black icing.  Using pink icing draw the tongue.  

    Now there's a treat that is almost too cute to eat!  Almost.

    Have the kids draw their favorite emoji faces!  There are many other adorable and fun emojis to draw.  Just get the right icing colors for their emojis of choice, and they will be ready to decorate!
