Flat iron steaks are a flavorful and versatile cut of meat. They can be grilled and served with a side dish or added to salads, tacos, and wraps. This recipe offers fragrant additions that take the flavor up another notch.

  • 2 (about 1 pound/450 g each) flat iron steaks
  • 1/4 cup/60 mL of dry red wine
  • 1 to 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 3 tablespoons/45 mL olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon/5 mL fresh thyme (chopped)
  • 1/2 teaspoon/2.5 mL fresh rosemary (chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon/5 mL dry mustard
  • 2 teaspoons/10 mL sea salt

Steps to Make It

  1. Gather the ingredients.

  2. Place flat iron steaks in a shallow baking dish. Season with salt. Combine marinade ingredients and pour onto meat, turn to coat, and cover with plastic wrap. Allow to marinate in the refrigerator for 1 hour.

  3. Preheat grill for medium-high heat. Remove meat from the dish and discard marinade. Place onto the grill and cook for 6 to 8 minutes per side. When the meat reaches the desired doneness, remove from the heat and let the meat sit for 3 minutes before slicing.

  4. Serve and enjoy!
