This Southern-style cheese burger is topped with a pat of salted butter, freshly made pimiento cheese and pickled okra. It just doesn't get anymore Southern than that.

Ingredients

For the Pimiento Cheese:

  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise

  • 5 dashes Frank's hot sauce

  • 1/8 teaspoon yellow mustard

  • 1/4 tablespoon grated onion

  • 1 pinch salt

  • 1 pinch sugar

  • 1 pinch garlic powder

  • 1/2 tablespoon pimientos, chopped

  • 1 tablespoon shredded cheddar

For the Burger:

  • 1/3 pound grass-fed beef

  • 1/8 teaspoon salt, plus more to taste

  • Pepper, to taste

  • Oil, or cooking spray

  • 1 pat salted butter

  • 1 hamburger bun

  • 1/2 tablespoon mayonnaise

  • 2 thick slices beefsteak tomato

  • 1 tablespoon pickled okra

Steps to Make It

For the Pimiento Cheese

  1. Gather the ingredients.

  2. In a small bowl, combine the mayo, Franks hot sauce, yellow mustard, grated onion, salt, sugar, and garlic powder. Stir until smooth.

  3. Add in the cheddar and pimientos and set aside, letting the flavors come together as you make the burger

For the Burger

  1. Begin forming the meat into a thin, round patty and season both sides with salt and pepper.

  2. Add a little oil or cooking spray to a cast-iron skillet and turn the heat to medium-high.

  3. Add the the seasoned patty to the skillet and cook for a few minutes on each side until the patty is cooked through to however you take your burger.

  4. When it's done, add the butter to the top of the burger and place the lid on the frying pan and remove from heat. 

  5. Next, toast the bun and smear each side with the mayo. Add the tomato slices, a little pinch of salt, the butter burger, the pimiento cheese, the pickled okra; and finally, the top half of the bun.
