This is a quick and flavorful halibut recipe. The rich color of the basting sauce gives a lot of character to this dish. Serve it on top of rice along with your favorite vegetables for a delicious, well-balanced meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound halibut steaks
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 to 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • Optional: Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 2 to 3 small green onion (washed and finely chopped)

Steps to Make It

  1. Combine all ingredients, except the halibut, in a small saucepan over medium heat. Mix until sugar is dissolved.

  2. Preheat grill. Place halibut steaks on the grill and cook each side for about 5 minutes, regularly basting with the sauce. Grill until done. Halibut should be opaque through to the middle and flake easily with a fork (an internal temperature of 145 to 150 F).

  3. Remove from heat, garnish with chopped green onions, and serve.
