This St. Louis-style barbecue sauce recipe is similar to the more popular Kansas City barbecue sauce, but it is a bit less sweet, and a little tangier. This is a delicious barbecue sauce recipe to use on baby back ribs or grilled chicken.
Ingredients
- 3 cups ketchup
- 1/2 cup sugar (brown)
- 1/2 cup onion (finely minced)
- 2 cloves garlic (finely minced)
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup mustard (brown)
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp hot sauce
Steps to Make It

Gather the ingredients.

Whisk together all ingredients in a saucepan and simmer, stirring, on low heat for 20 minutes.

Let cool to room temperature.

Use as desired.
This recipe can be used as a basting sauce towards the end of cooking or brushed on after barbecuing, with additional sauce served on the side.
