As Moscato's popularity continues to climb, more foodies are finding ways to incorporate it into their favorite sangria recipes. This highly coveted white wine with a distinctly sweeter palate profile comes from Northern Italy's Piedmont region. The wine is made from the Muscat Blanc grape, which offers up aromas of orange blossom, peach, and citrus themes. The bright aromas and honeyed fruit make for a remarkable sangria base. Moscato comes in three distinct styles: still, sparkling, and dessert. For this particular sangria, stick with the still variety which often has higher levels of alcohol (as compared to the sparkling version that weighs in around 6 percent ABV) and carries a bit more acidity on the palate. Don't pay more than $10 for a Moscato that you are going to blend into a sangria, as the nuances will be masked by the overall cocktail-nature of the liqueur, fruit, and soda.
