The surfer on acid is one of those drinks that conjures up multiple scenarios that may have led to its name. It is an incredibly easy drink that is quite popular and can be served however you like.

It makes a great shooter and many people enjoy it on the rocks, though some prefer it up in a cocktail glass. The only constant is that the ingredients are always equal in proportion, so it's a really easy drink to remember.

The coconut rum tames the infamous Jägermeister that has become synonymous with the Jäger Bomb. Unlike that party shot, the surfer on acid is a delicious tropical drink that is perfect for a summer day at the beach and popular enough that every bartender should include it in their repertoire.

How Strong Is the Surfer on Acid?

Malibu is one of the most popular coconut rums on the market, so we'll use that to estimate how strong the surfer on acid is once mixed. With the original Malibu Rum (42-proof), the cocktail comes in around 16 percent ABV (32 proof).

If you choose a stronger and more flavorful rum like Malibu Black (70-proof), the cocktail's amped up just a bit and weighs in at around 20% ABV. Either way, it's not the strongest Jagermeister cocktail you can mix up.
