This spicy and flavorful ground beef casserole is made with a nicely seasoned filling, a crunchy corn chip topping, and a generous amount of shredded cheese. This is an easy recipe to follow and it makes a delicious everyday family dinner.

You can vary the toppings, as well. Try it with sliced green onions and cilantro instead of chopped onions and lettuce.


  • 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried leaf oregano
  • Dash Tabasco sauce
  • 1/2 cup taco sauce
  • 1 (8 ounces) can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 6-ounce bag corn chips (slightly crumbled)
  • 2 tomatoes (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup onion (chopped)
  • 1 cup lettuce (chopped)

Steps to Make It

  1. Gather the ingredients.

  2. Preheat the oven to 350 F. Lightly grease a 2- to 2 1/2-quart baking dish. 

  3. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef. Stir in the chili powder, garlic powder, oregano, and Tabasco. Add the taco sauce and tomato sauce. Taste and add salt, as needed. Simmer the mixture for 10 minutes.

  4. Put half of the ground beef mixture in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Top with about half of the crumbled corn chips or taco chips. Add remaining ground beef mixture, a layer of chopped tomato, onion, chopped lettuce, and the shredded cheese. Sprinkle the remaining corn chips over the top.

  5. Bake the casserole for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the casserole is hot and cheese is melted.

  6. Serve and enjoy!
