A Seattle bartender named Keith Waldbauer made the Revelator famous in the midst of a cocktail competition. The drink soon became a menu staple at Liberty Bar, where Waldbauer works. Serve up the Revelator at your next party, happy hour event, or any time you need a pick-me-up. You won't be disappointed!


  • 0.5 oz. Averna Amaro
  • 2 oz tequila (Reposado Tequila; you can also use anejo tequila)
  • 3-4 espresso beans
  • 0.5 oz. sweet vermouth
  • 1 dash spicy pepper bitters
  • Garnish: orange peel

Steps to Make It

  1. Gather the ingredients.

  2. Add all the ingredients to a shaker with ice

  3. Stir for a good 15-30 seconds and then strain into a coupe.

  4. Top with an orange peel, flamed if you’re brave.
