Strawberries are not only juicy and delicious; they're nutritious! Strawberries are particularly high in antioxidants and vitamin C and are a good source of manganese.
Strawberries are the only fruit with seeds on the outside. The botanic name, Fragaria, means fragrance, a perfect description of their sweet scent.
While strawberries are available year-round, the most flavorful and juicy ones will be found from April to July. Berries are picked with the cap and part of the stem left on when they are fully ripe. They aren't washed until just before they're eaten.
