This warm bacon dressing is wonderful on a spinach salad, or try it on baby kale or other tender greens. The warm dressing wilts the greens, and the bacon adds a nice smoky flavor.

Ingredients

  • 3 slices bacon (cooked and crumbled)
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup vinegar (red wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar)
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • dash of salt

Steps to Make It

  1. Gather the ingredients.

  2. Fry the bacon until crisp.

  3. Remove to paper towels to drain.

  4. In a small saucepan, combine the bacon drippings, sugar, vinegar, water, cornstarch, and a dash of salt. Whisk to blend.

  5. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is thickened.

  6. Drizzle warm dressing over a spinach salad or other greens, and sprinkle with bacon.
