What We Don't Like
  • Main cooking area is on the smaller side

What do buyers say? 90% of 100+ Amazon reviewers rated this product 4 stars or above.

The Weber Summit E-470 is loaded with features including four main burners as well as 10,600-BTU sear station, a 12,000-BTU side burner, a 6,800-BTU smoker box, and 10,600-BTU rear-mount rotisserie burner. All of these burners are individually controlled and it can all be turned into a smart grill via the Weber Connect app. Add to that a handle mounted LED grill light, backlit control panel, and a dozen other options, and you get a grill that has it all.

The E-470 sacrifices some of its 468 square inches of primary grilling space to make way for the smoker box and rotisserie burner, but still has plenty of room. As for the propane tank, it is hidden inside the cart, and a built-in LED scale can easily display your current fuel level so you'll never run out mid-party. The E-470 is the same price as the equally featured stainless steel S-470 version.

Runner-Up, Best Overall

Weber Summit E-670 6-Burner Liquid Propane Grill

Weber Summit E-670 Gas Grill
Weber-Stephen Products Company
What We Like
  • 6 powerful burners

  • Spacious cooking area

  • Smoker box with 6,800-BTU burner

  • Motorized infrared rotisserie with separate storage

What We Don't Like
  • Doesn’t come with a cover

  • Plastic knobs

The Weber Summit E-670 is a huge, super featured gas grill. It has everything that the E-470 does, plus two extra burners—it also takes the primary grilling space from 468 to 624 square inches. Those two extra burners also translate to a higher BTU, this is up to 60,000 for your primary cooking space. There's also a 145-square-inch warming rack, a 10,600 BTU-per-hour sear burner, a smoker box, and a powerful side burner for making sure the entire meal is done on time.

Inside, you have the same 9mm stainless-steel rod cooking grates and flavorizer bars are the E-470. The front access grease pan makes clean-up easy, and this is also able to connect to your smartphone via the Weber Connect app. That all said, we are a little disappointed that for such an expensive grill, this doesn't come with a cover and the plastic knobs might feel flimsy to you.

Best Custom Insert

Weber Summit S-460 Built-In Natural Gas

Weber Summit

Home Depot

What We Like
  • Many of the same features as freestanding grills

  • Snap-jet ignition system

  • Includes a cover

What We Don't Like
  • Have to purchase a side burner separately

The Weber Summit S-460 is the custom insert, or built-in, version of the Summit S-470. You get a lot of the same features as other Summit grills: a 10,600-BTU infrared rotisserie burner, a 10,600-BTU sear burner, and a 6,800-BTU smoker box. One thing missing is any side burner since this doesn't have side tables (though an optional side burner unit can be purchased).

The 4 main stainless-steel burners each supply 12,200 BTUs an hour to the 468-square-inch main grilling area. Each burner does have its own snap-jet igniter so you can use only one if you need. This grill is more expensive than the freestanding model and since it is an unusual shape for a custom enclosure, make sure you know what you are getting into before you buy.

Weber Summit S-670 LP Gas Grill

Weber Summit S-670 Gas Grill
Weber Stephen Products Company
What We Like
  • All stainless steel exterior

  • 6 powerful burners

  • Snap-jet ignition system

What We Don't Like
  • Have to purchase cover separately

The Weber Summit S-670 has all the features of the E-670: the rotisserie burner, the side burner, the sear burner, and the smoker box. The difference is this is all topped off with stainless-steel doors and a stainless-steel hood. This 6-burner grill has 624 square inches of primary grilling space, with a 145-square-inch warming rack. The side and sear burners are the same powerful ones found on other Summits and the rotisserie burner and spit tuck away when not in use.

This also includes the LED fuel gauge so you know how much is left in your propane tank, and a sensor turns on the handle's LED light when you lift the hood.

Final Verdict

The Weber Summit E-470 is our top pick in this high-end line from Weber, as it offers all the features a grillmaster could ever want, including both a smoker box and rotisserie burner. However, if you have a custom outdoor kitchen, the Weber Summit S-460 is an unbeatable built-in model that's powered by natural gas.

What to Look for When Buying a Weber Summit Gas Grill

Features

When you're in the market for a high-end grill, you want to make sure that it has all the bells and whistles that you want. The number of burners, a smoker box, rotisserie burner, LED-lit control panel, and a side burner are just a few options that these grills provide.

Grilling Space

For the grilling connoisseur, grilling space is a high priority. If you want to cook a turkey or a few slabs of ribs, you need more cooking area than you would if cooking a few hamburgers or hot dogs. Only you can decide how much grilling area you're going to need for cooking, so select what will work best for you.

Cost

When looking at higher-end grills, there might be a bit of sticker shock. Be prepared and make sure that whatever grill you choose fits within your budget. These grills are definitely an investment but will last a long time.

FAQs

How long do Weber grills last?

These grills are known for their durability, and with proper care, should last for at least 10 to 15 years, sometimes longer. Keep the inside and grates cleaned and maintained to help prolong the life of your grill as long as possible.

Should you clean your grill every time it is used?

It is recommended that your grill grates be cleaned after each use. To clean the cooking grates, preheat the grill on high for 15 minutes, then brush the grates with a safe grill brush that won't shed wires. There are maintenance kits available by Weber that you can get for cleaning your grill. Follow the directions that come with your grill to do a thorough cleaning.

How do you prevent flare-ups on a grill?

Keep your grill cleaned and maintained. This process will not only help prolong the life of your grill but also help to prevent flare-ups and allow your grill to run properly. You should never leave the grill unattended when grilling since flare-ups can occur when cooking and turning over the food.
